PREMISE – We wrestle between two forces in this world – God (good) and Satan (evil). Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that God has a divine plan for us. “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.”

Satan also wishes to thwart any plan that God has for your life and mine, and he desires to ”sift us like wheat”. This means that Satan’s desire is to run us through his wringer…to show God that we are not as “righteous” as we might think.

Unfortunately, they gave out too many wrong answers.

This book paints a picture of heaven…what it looks like, who is there…in Chapter One. The rest of the book deals with how are we supposed to live while on this side of it on the planet earth.

If you know where you are going AFTER you die, you will have peace of mind about dying – If you have no idea of where your spirit will end up after you die, you must be living in great fear. I have peace about where I am going after I die, and I share how you can find that same peace in your life…here on earth and in the “hereafter”.

The Uniqueness Of This Book – SATAN’S GAMES.

February 29, 2008 – a leap year.

On the above date, I began to write this book, and did so from a very unique perspective. I wrote it as bad things were beginning to come into my life.

In December of 2007, I realized that, as a Christian, I had done things my way for most of my life. My finances were great. I had just finished building my “retirement home” and the lot had another home on it as well. I was earning $1,600 a month in rental income from that home…and my real estate career earned me no less than $120,000 a year…to as much as $155,000 in 2007. Life was good…but I was unfulfilled as a Christian.

I had been a deacon once. I was a Sunday school teacher to children and to adults. I thought I understood much of the Bible, but I never quite felt like God was close to me…you know, in a really tight relationship. I never saw His plan and purpose for my life, and wondered how good it would be to finally get to know what that plan looked like.

So, in December of 2007, I prayed this prayer: “Lord, show me your plan and purpose for my life. I am now willing to know what it is…no matter what. I want a close relationship with you.”

It is now February 29th of 2008 as I start to write this book. What prompted me to write it is that God immediately decided to take everything from me….my wealth, my job, my family, my friends, one of my homes, my pride, and He would leave me with less than enough to live on.

At first, I was shocked! The things that began to unfold immediately - in January of 2008, were very painful and Unbelievable. My world – as I knew it, was starting to crash down on me.

I thought, “I must have really done it this time. I must have ‘ticked God off’ because really bad things are unfolding. Ah, but they would get worse as the months rolled on!

I was about to go through what I call – “God’s Boot Camp”, and it is the most uncomfortable training program that anyone could ever go through. I went through a tough military boot camp in 1963 when I joined the United State Air Force, and compared to God’s Boot Camp, that military training was a piece of cake!

So, the uniqueness of this book is that my readers and I are about to embark on a journey into the unknown. We shall experience all that God does in my “training time” Together, we will see the good, the bad…the ugly…and, hopefully, we will see the end of the trial where I am supposed to experience some sort of blessing from God if I can endure His trial to the end.

In January, a host of bad things unfolded – rapidly. God was taking everything away from me. Family, friends, my job – therefore my finances, and my ability to pay bills. Then, He would strip me of my pride, and I had loads of pride. What would you have done if you began to experience pain, shame, humility, and huge losses and big chunks of your life?

Would you quickly decide to walk away from God, because of the immediate pain and suffering that He allowed Satan to inflict upon you, or would you opt to take the trial and pray that you would come through it a better person because God Himself was directing your paths, and they would lead you to a close relationship with Him?

The reward, if I can get through it, would be that I would, probably for the first time in my life, discover what peace felt like. Peace would have to come if I could learn to trust in God and God alone for everything…my next breath, my next meal…my next dollar…my health. Total, unconditional trust would have to become a reality in my life, instead of a “concept”. Can people really find peace that Jesus promised to leave His apostles…and us?

Can we really learn to take God at His word, and believe everything that he told us in His Bible? I have heard people say, “Put your trust in God”. I have read it on our currency – “In God we trust”, but can I really trust God…when bad things start to happen?

I must say…I thought about jumping ship, but I would never get to experience what God’s plan and purpose for my life was. I had to know. Wouldn’t you really like to know what His plan and purpose for your life is?

Do you really want to go through life doing things your way? If so, why are we here? Why would we want to live life on the planet to fulfill our temporal dreams and aspirations, and never get to know what our Creator planned for us.

I am of the persuasion that God’s plan…His ways…are far superior to mine, so I am setting out to endure whatever pain and suffering comes my way in order to get to the other end.

As I write this book, I have a lot of fear and trepidation as to where my journey will lead me. And now, you get to join me on this trip as my guest.

I dared to start on this trip…this journey into the unknown, once I read this Bible verse found in 1 Corinthians 10:13 – “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

Later in this book, we will discover that the word “temptation” means “trial” or “time of testing”, so let’s re-write that verse now because we all need to be on the same page. I took this verse as God’s personal invitation for me to go through His “Boot Camp”.

He said, “John, No time of testing in my boot camp training will overtake you that is not common to others; and I am faithful, and I will not allow you to be tested beyond what you are capable of handling, but with the trials, which is my time of testing, I will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

“John, you can handle it, and I will make a way of escape in any event”. That sounded like a promise from God, so I decided to test it out. If I was about to build a relationship with God, and he with me, I felt like I should be able to trust Him…so I decided to continue along in His boot camp.

What would I have to lose? You will be shocked…as I was shocked, as to all that I would have to lose before learning what God’s plan and purpose for me is.

I am reviewing this book to make sure it is edited properly, and it is almost Christmas of 2009 (December 23^rd), so I know when the end of the trial is, but I do not know what God’s blessing will be at the end of the trial. I guess we’ll both find out when God gets me there. If you are reading this book, I can assure you that it was an ending that will point lots of people to Christ. That is always God’s goal – His will.

I am leaving the bulk of the book intact because, from January of 2008 until the “end of God’s Boot Camp Training”, it will be great training for you, the reader, to see and know all the steps that God took to teach me what would make me conform more to the image of His Son. And, you will know what I knew…when I knew it, and you will experience my fears, apprehensions, thoughts….dreams at 3:30 in the morning, chats with God….and you will see how He worked His plans into my life.

The goal, therefore, is to get you to the point of daring to ask God to draw you closer to Him…in spite of all that it will cost you up front. Will it be worth your while to say that prayer that I said in December of 2007? Do you want to truly know what peace is? Are you willing to trust God that He will train you, lead you, direct your paths, and ultimately get you to that place where you and God can walk hand-in-hand in a relationship that will surpass all other relationships that you could ever hope to have?

I write this book to challenge you, if you are up for it, to take God at His word…to learn to trust Him…no matter what seems to be happening to you through your “trials” or “time of testing”, and to show you that God is faithful…and trustworthy…and He loves us enough to want to show us what His plan and purpose is for OUR LIVES.

The name of this book, originally, was to be Why Christians Have No Money. The book started in February of 2008. My job, wealth and finances were the fierst to be taken, so I thought that God would take them…but that He would also give them back to me at some point…like He did with the Old Testament man by the name of Job. Through my rough period of testing, I discovered that it isn’t about the money at all…..it’s “Can I trust God with everything?” God would allow more than money to be taken from me…He would allow family, health, a soul-mate relationship, pride, and more to be taken.

By the end of my trial, I learned that God simply wanted a personal relationship with me (and wants one with you), but I had way too many things (gods, if you will) lying in my way. I discovered that Satan hates God, wants to be worshipped – just like God is, and he wants to deceive you in any way possible - to get you to sit on the sidelines of life if you are a born-again Christian, or he wants you to worship him, rather than God, if you are not yet a born-again Christian.

We will discuss excerpts from my book – Heaven-How Do I Get There later in this book. I want to be sure that you will know whether you are headed for heaven – or hell, and that your final destination is solely and squarely YOUR CHOICE.

We will discuss what the “END TIMES” are like, and what the last day on earth for a Christian might look like. It is going to be a devastating time for non-believers.

We are in the so-called “End of Days” spoken of in the Old Testament by the prophets, and in the New Testament by Jesus Christ Himself. I can tell you this: If you are not ready to go to heaven, meaning you have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are in for a horrifying nightmare.

I am so glad that I know exactly where I will spend eternity, and I know…beyond any shadow of doubt, that I will be gone long before the really bad times of the “End of Days” arrives.

I speak of those times in great detail in my book – America’s Two Holy Wars, but I feel compelled to send out the warning now…and to you, if you are fortunate enough to be reading this book.

I consider myself a “fireman” for the Lord. A fireman would warn any resident of a burning building to do what it takes to find safety. Failure to follow the fireman’s instructions might cost the resident their lives.

If you were in a burning building, and you knew that you could not make it out alive, would you not listen to your fireman and to his instructions that will lead you to safety? He has the expertise and training to help you to get to safety.

I feel that I am well qualified to get you to safety, so come with me on this journey into the unknown. Learn from my “Boot Camp” experience, and you will not only find safety from another fire that is much worse than a house fire…you will find safety and security throughout eternity. Your spirit will live eternally in hell, where the fire is never quenched…or in heaven. It’s your choice.

CHAPTER ONE – The Origin of Satan’s Game.

Before we go one step ahead in understanding Satan’s games that he intends to win with YOU, you must travel back with me to the beginning of mankind because that is when Satan first showed his ugly face - or shall I say his hand.

You must also believe that the Holy Bible is God’s word.

I do not know you, my reader, but I can accept that you may have another “Bible” – possibly the Torah, or the Koran (Qur’an), or maybe just The Old Testament, or possibly other books like The Book of Mormon, etc. and you might believe the words in them are true. They may have been written by prophets of old, including Mohammed, and you might believe that they were written for your benefit…and that’s fine, but for illustrative purposes, I want us to believe the Bible - and the parts that I am about to unfold are found in the Old Testament, and the Qur’an , and the Torah, so most of us are starting out on the same page.

If you accept the premise that all ancient books are similar regarding a beginning time…a Genesis, then let’s visit the Garden of Eden…a place found in most books considered holy by readers.

First, Where is the Garden of Eden? I was curious to know the answer to that question, so I got into God’s Word – the Bible, to discover for myself where this place of the origin of man was.

Just for kicks, I Googled “where was the garden of eden”, and came up with this: “This is why many Christians have assumed that the original garden was located somewhere in the Mesopotamian region (around present day Iraq) where the modern Tigris and Euphrates rivers flow.” Taken from ChristianAnswers.net.

So, I had to find out for myself by studying the Bible more closely than I normally might. Based on my findings, the Garden of Eden was located at the mouth of four rivers…one of them is missing because God wanted it missing. But, We are allowed to know exactly where they are.

The Garden of Eden – MAP

Do you think it strange to discover that the Garden of Eden was located in what is now called Iraq? Do you think it strange that the great city of Babylon, where things began and will end, is now called Baghdad? Stick with me…….

Satan was tossed out of heaven by God because he began to think he was as great as God…his Creator. God tossed Satan and about one-third of the angels who joined up with him, out of heaven and kicked them to the earth.

The Bible reveals in two different places, that Satan landed in what is now known as Turkey.

The Bible tells us that Satan “Wants to be like the most high God”. To that end, he wants to have mankind worship him instead of God. He will stop at nothing to accomplish this. In fact, if you do nothing about him, he will probably leave you alone. He has no reason to bother those who he knows he already has, meaning those who are not in jeopardy of bumping into a born-again believer. T that point, Satan gets really nervous, and might tend to entice that person so as to distract them from finding Christ.

Satan would likely create an event in that person’s life in order to attract them away from learning about Jesus. He might entice them with glitz, glamour, a new boyfriend or girlfriend…maybe money or fame…whatever distracts them.

His GME – is to get you all the way through your life without having you exposed to the “Gospel of Christ”. If he can do that, he gains another soul to suffer the torments of where he and his former angels…now demons, will spend eternity, and that place of torment is called hell.

If you are already assured that you will go to heaven (tell you how later), then Satan will try his best to “neutralize” you so you can’t influence anyone else.

He will get your attention away from God, and onto other things. You already know I’m telling you the truth, don’t you?

Satan knows YOUR EXACT ACHILLES HEEL. He will attack you through your children, your job, your wealth, your health, your spouse, and especially in your religion. He will first - and always present you with “baubles”….gifts….nice things to attract you away from things of God. If that fails, he will attack you directly…personally.

You will need help to avert those attacks. That help is in this book, and is taken from God’s words out of the Bible, help is not a theory…it’s available to all of us.

Satan tries to attack pastors who are winning souls to Christ, and usually, he does it by using a woman to seduce that man of God. I pray for pastors in general now because they are so susceptible to that one area of life that so easily besets them…the area of sex. Satan uses sex in every conceivable manner possible. It is on TV, in advertising spots on the radio, on billboards, magazines…and it is taught as “sex education” in schools because it actually excites the younger generation. Instead of preventing pregnancies, as it was intended, there are far more pregnancies now than ever before…only now the “quick fix” being taught to young girls is abortion. Kill the baby…make it all go away…and continue the illicit lifestyle.

Oh well, let’s move on, shall we?

Let’s head south of Turkey – to Eden down in Iraq.

Man was created to live forever, and God placed man that he created in the Garden of Eden.

SATAN PLAYS “THE GAME” WITH ADAM AND EVE

Satan overheard God telling Adam, “You can eat of every tree in the Garden of Eden – except one – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” – Genesis 2:16.

Verse 17 is more explicit. God told Adam, “Thou shalt not eat of that tree. . . for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.”

God made man in His own image. God gave man everything – including eternal life. He gave Adam and Eve a place to live, and all the food they could ever hope for – for free.

Adam and Eve were promised they could live forever in God’s paradise. You and I are promised eternal life, too. The only problem is that we have a rule. We have one thing we must not do. To do this one thing will prevent us from entering into the beautiful paradise that God has built for all of us. On the day we do this one really bad thing, our names will be removed from the Book of Life.

In Heaven – How Do I Get There, I go into great detail as to what this “Book of Life” is, and how your name is written in it…until you commit the “unpardonable sin”, and God MUST remove your name from the Book of Life, and MUST punish you for that unpardonable sin….and all other sins, by sending you to a place of eternal torment – called hell. That “unpardonable sin” is rejecting God’s Son, Jesus, and all that he did on the cross to pay for those sins of mankind.

Adam was told, by God, “If you take fruit from this one tree, you shall surely die.” In other words, “Adam, you may live forever, as I have promised you, and it was a free gift. But, you will not receive that promise of eternal life if you violate my one rule. If you disobey me, it is called “committing a sin, and you will forfeit your eternal life on the earth…you will die on the earth.

That sin will be that you disobeyed my words, and you made a conscious choice to disobey my rule, and I am God, so I must do what I say and punish you – and that punishment is that you will know physical death.”

Satan was very handsome. Remember, he was an “angel of light”. This angel had to inherit a body. God made man, so Satan had to inherit the body of one of the animals or “beasts” that God had made. Satan entered into what was called a serpent. This serpent walked upright at the time of the beginning of the world, according to the Bible.

Satan was craftier than any beast of the field that God had created. Let me get that verse for you. “Now the serpent was more subtle (crafty – sneaky – deceitful) than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.” – Genesis 3:1

Satan’s GAME is to Get man to believe him, not God.

In Genesis 3:3, Satan (in the form of the serpent), came to Eve who was walking in the Garden of Eden, and he began to talk with her. I’m sure she was out there, alone, looking longingly at the fruit trees searching for food. I discovered that her husband, Adam, was with her at the time of her sin, though. Adam was not with her when Satan asked her the question found in the next paragraph because, if Adam was there, he would have answered Satan directly.

Eve was likely very hungry, and old Satan knows our weaknesses. “Eve, Did God say to you that you could not eat of every tree in the Garden?”, said the wily one.

I want you to understand the technically correct Satan. He didn’t want to come right out and ask this: “Eve, God didn’t tell you that you were not supposed to eat of one of those trees, right?” So, Satan backed into the story by suggesting that God didn’t say anything at all to Eve. After all, God told Adam – because, as you will recall, Satan overheard God telling Adam not to eat of a certain tree. Many people believe that Satan is capable of reading their mind, like God is capable of doing.

Satan is not God – he just wants to be exactly like God. He cannot read your mind. He, or his imps (demons, devils, evil spirits), can, however, hear your words when you speak them out loud. When I pray alone, I do not pray out loud and for that reason.

It is not that I am afraid of Satan (I am not), but I cannot count the number of times that he overheard me praying alone, and within five minutes, the phone rang and what I was praying about was overheard by one of Satan’s imps. Within minutes, I was being set up for discouragement.

For example: I prayed about selling a particular real estate listing of mine because that’s how I make a living. Literally - within minutes, the phone would ring, and it would be a potential customer who wanted to see that specific listing.

How I knew it was just the devil trying to discourage me over my prayers to God, was that those buyers would NEVER materialize by presenting an offer to the seller. What I could count on was that they would see a property, tell me how much they loved it, and I would then, in turn, tell the Seller how much they said they loved it….then I would never hear from that person again.

Why would Satan want to do that to me…or why would he want to set you up for failure? That’s really easy to figure out –now. Satan wants to discourage you. He wants to depress you. Most of all, as we will soon see, he wants you to lose your confidence in God. If he can get you to lose your confidence in God, then your trust in God will also fail, and he wins the game….you lose.

I must also tell you that when I pray with at least one more person who is a believer, the Bible tells me, “Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, I will be in the midst of them”. Therefore, I deduced, if the Lord is in the midst of two or more people who are praying, then Satan will NOT be around. So far, so good! When I pray alone, however, I pray in silence to God. Or, I will invoke the name of Jesus…or sing hymns first…then I remind Satan of where he is going, and generally speaking, he leaves my prayer room immediately!

However, Satan did not know that God didn’t tell Eve directly – like he told Adam, so he wanted to set her up to discover if she even knew of God’s warning.

Satan deduced that if Eve tasted that fruit on the forbidden tree, she might also offer it up to Adam, and then Adam would also have violated God’s single rule – and receive death.

Why would Satan want to see any person die? After all, he had no reason to want to set Adam or Eve up – for death. You might pick up on the idea that Satan would like to see every person dead. The sooner they die – the better for him. If they have not received the gift of eternal life, they would then belong to him anyway.

Satan’s goal – his game – is to take YOU away from God BEFORE you hear about Jesus, and in doing so, he gains you as someone he will see forever…..in hell.

That sick mind of Satan figures that if he can keep you from God, and from an eternity in heaven….somehow he wins the game. Yet, he will be there in hell – forever….where torment never ceases, so I cannot imagine how his mind thinks, but we all know how devious he is, and how absolutely wicked he is, and how he loves to see chaos, death, destruction, and does so in unbelievably horrific ways most of the time.

Satan already knows what his own personal destiny is, and that is that he will spend forever in hell. Knowing this, he would like to take as many as possible with him when he goes. The more he takes, the fewer there are to worship God – whom he hates.

Let’s get back to Eve. Watch this very clever setup. Eve commented, “Well, sure, Adam and I can eat of all the trees – er, except one.. . the one in the middle of the garden. If we touch that fruit, God told Adam that we would surely die.” So you see, Eve did hear it from Adam. Satan would use a more clever approach now.

CHAPTER TWO – Deceit – One of many tools in the toolbox of Satan’s game pieces.

I want you to understand that Satan is about to tell Eve the single biggest lie of all of history, and he uses the same exact lie today to get to you. Here it is:

Satan first tries to find out how much we know, and how much we don’t know. He figured that Eve didn’t really know of God’s words. If we DO know God’s words, and keep them in our hearts, Satan would have a more difficult time trying to deceive us. There is passage from the Bible that recommends that we hide God’s words in our hearts so that we might not sin against Him. King David said, after experiencing sin in his life, that it would be better if he knew what God’s words were. “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11.

Although Eve was taught well by Adam, Satan uses his cunning ability to get through to her. He said to Eve, “Okay, even though God said that you would die, you shall surely NOT die.”

Here’s Satan’s game….it started way back in Genesis with Adam and Eve……

In plain English, Satan was telling Eve to “Choose to believe me, or choose to believe God”.

I had to highlight that in RED (for my online books) because those words of deception are the same words he uses today. Red means STOP….consider what he said to Eve. Consider what he wants you to do. If you choose to believe God, you will be spared an eternity in hell. If you choose to listen to, and therefore serve Satan, you choose Satan over God.

Deceit and lies – Satan’s GAME tools. “God would certainly not punish you, Eve.” Man believes this lie – since then – and right on through to the end of time ….”How can a loving God punish mankind by sending them to hell?

There are some “religions” that preach this in their places of worship, or in their writings. Some claim to be Bible scholars!

Satan preached the same thing – starting with Eve…..”God will certainly NOT punish your sin, Eve. Therefore, Eve…are you going to believe what God has told you – or will you believe me?

I say to you, my reader…will you choose to search out the Scriptures…God’s Word, or will you choose to believe Satan…who also uses men and women – even in roles as religious leaders, to tell you things that are not true.

Paul the apostle of Jesus Christ warns us to “search the Scriptures to determine if what “men of God”…including him, are teaching us is true. Acts 17:11 – “Now these (people of the church at Berea) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” - If you KNOW what God’s Word says, you cannot easily be tricked or deceived by Satan.

Eve had to make a choice. “Should I believe God or this handsome, shining serpent? “Should I believe that my Creator would actually allow me to die, or should I believe this kind-looking one called Satan? “The fruit doesn’t look like it will kill me….it looks rather inviting.”

Satan knew that she hesitated too long. Eve was about to sin.

The moment of temptation….that very moment that you know that Satan is pacing a temptation…an evil thought in your head…you should immediately reject it, and tell him …command him using the authority of Christ’s Words, to tell him to leave you. Eve did not do this.

Eve was about to take a big bite of the forbidden fruit. I can only imagine that Satan was starting to drool a bit at the anticipated success of his temptation. He knew that he had her. She hesitated. She thought about what he was saying to her. She was playing his game - and she was about to lose the game for herself, for Adam - and for all mankind.

She was at the very edge of temptation’s door. When Satan puts a thought in our heads, or “sin deed”, in our minds, dwelling on it should be the last thing you do. Eve should have run from this temptation. But, she hung around to see what else would develop.

Satan Tightens The Noose

Satan has Eve right at the very edge of looking at the temptation, then committing evil, which is to commit the sin of disobeying God. He simply needed one more thing to sweeten the deal, so he said, “Eve, darling, God knows that in the day that you eat of this particular tree, you shall be “as gods” yourself, and you will become just like Him – knowing good from evil.”

My dear reader, please understand that Satan will use every game piece in his game book to get you to believe and follow him. In this case, he said to Eve the same things he says to mankind today…especially to a group of “elitists” who are called Progressive Liberal Secularists. He says, “Live the life the way you see fit – then, you shall be as gods yourself, so you don’t need to listen to what God says…trust in yourself…and trust in me…Satan…would I lie to you?”

These Progressives - and Muslim extremists, are vying for your worship, too. Muslims want to rule the world through Islam, and their extremist views will not tolerate anyone who does not worship Allah.

If you choose to worship any other god, they will use whatever force to make you worship their god. Their goal is to enslave (or kill) any non-Muslim.

Progressive Secularists wish to enslave YOU…through the use of government. Their desire is to force you to abandon God, and become totally dependent upon them (their government) for your education, your finances, your housing, your automobile, your health care. And you wonder why they are fighting so hard to ram these programs through in 2009 through 2012.

I will tell you this much….the Progressives and Islam don’t know it yet, but they will actually begin to collaborate around the year 2012.

Satan’s plan for them, however, is to force those same elite Progressives into bread lines where they, along with the poor, will have to take a microchip into their bodies (hand or forehead), just to buy or sell food….and, by the time the temple at Jerusalem is rebuilt, Satan plans to have all of the world bow down to worship him….including Muslims, according to the Book of Revelation. It all ends for Muslim extremists and Progressives in Baghdad, Iraq around the year 2015 …mid-year, and it all ends for non-Christians on top of Mount Zion when the newly built Holy Temple is desecrated by Satan himself….circa 2015…mid-year.

These elitists are the ones who are trying to take Christmas away from Christians, and who want to remove God from every facet of society. Secular Humanism says, “We don’t need God in our lives – we are already gods in our own minds.”

“We will make rules in society that exclude God.” And they are doing exactly that. They now control the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government, and they control about 95% of all the news media who bring you supposedly “unbiased” news each night.

All of them will be begging bread in the not too distant future, so it seems so funny to me to see them working so hard to accomplish Satan’s will….and not God’s will. They hate God. They want to have their own rules….their own moral laws….like gay rights, gay marriages, no guns….you name it. They are using “political correctness”, coupled with the laws being passed by their appointed judges, to strip your rights away from you….and you are letting them do it.

The Progressives will unite with the Muslim world by adopting “Sharia Law”….the laws of the Qur’an that dictate punishment for all non-Muslims who do not worship Allah. It won’t be pretty! Read my book.

In my view, all of this MUST HAPPEN and is part of God’s divine plan for the end times. So, if things that you are witnessing that are wrong…but society says it’s right…and vice-versa, it is supposed to happen exactly that way in the “end times”.

SATAN HAS IMPLANTED A QUESTION INTO THE MINDS OF “GOOD PEOPLE”.

I want to repeat the question that Satan gets many people – good people – to ask today: “Would a loving, kind God sentence you to an eternity in hell, especially if you are good?”

If you are just a “good person”, Satan will try to convince you that being good will get you into Heaven, and that you don’t really need to listen to God, just listen to him. It is deceitful. It is exactly the same ploy….and nearly the same question that he asked of Eve. It’s a setup!

Well, soon we will see that God must punish sin; yet, He is a kind, loving, caring God. He has established certain rules. Really just one, however, that will guarantee you eternity in Heaven.

It will guarantee that you will find yourself in the place where God lives. Just like with Adam, God promised him eternal life, provided he not violate one rule.

Satan Turns Up The Heat One More Notch

When Eve saw the fruit again, she thought to herself that it really looked good. In fact, Genesis 3:6 puts it this way: “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat.”

Satan’s game is to make everything “look nice”. His game is to make his things look attractive – enticing….so much so, that you must have it. I call them “baubles”. This is why Las Vegas looks so attractive to gamblers….bright lights….great food….a chance to win a lot of money.

In fact, I use some of that “game playing” myself, I have to admit, in my real estate career. I tell people to get their homes in top condition because eye appeal is what sells homes. I tell my builders to add things that appeal to the eye of the potential buyer….like granite countertops, whirlpool baths, expensive-looking lighting (it can be inexpensive to buy, but it must look expensive), and this is because “eye appeal” must be met in order to sell a home. If what buyers see does not attract them to it, a sale is not made.

Satan figured this out in the Garden of Eden…..“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired…..she went for it.”

Eve believed Satan’s lie. How devastating this would become, not only in her life, but that of her husband.

Not only does Satan’s lie prevail today, but also so many people choose to fall for it as Eve has just done.

Eve lusted after the object placed before her by the craftiest of all beings - Satan. What are you putting before God? What object are you lusting after – desiring? The lust of the eye, and the pride of life is what Satan uses almost always to attract us to him.

Once we see the “shiny object” – the temptation, and hear his speech about how this will change our lives, and how it will consume our time, and keep us away from God, he’s happy, when we take the shiny object of sin from him.

Most of us, including yours truly, fall for this same old line time and time again. It takes a lot to be keen enough to know when you are being had. Most of the time, I now KNOW when the devil is handing me a “bauble”.

Satan will get you off the pathway that leads to God by first enticing you with a bauble…something that is appealing to the eye. If that fails, he will outright attack you through ill health, or through a child, or any other tool in his devilish toolbox.

Satan’s game – his goal…is to never allow you to get on God’s pathway to heaven in the first place. But if you somehow manage to get into God’s plan for your life, he will try to entice you - or hammer you, so you will lose your confidence in God, then your trust in God will fail, and you will become sidelined….doing no good at all for God’s plans or His purpose for your life.

In other words, Satan wins the game. Don’t let him do it! He is a wily devil, but God gives us the ways for us to learn to defeat Satan. It’s all in His Bible.

We should review hat happened right after Adam and Eve sinned against God by believing Satan’s lie - “Thou shalt surely NOT die”.

Adam and Eve believed Satan’s lie over God’s truth.

God said, “Thou shalt surely die”.

Satan challenged Adam and Eve both to believe God…or believe him. Satan won that game!

Winning those two humans over to his way of thinking must have emboldened Satan because he has been playing that same game since….and gaining millions if not billions of followers over the years since then.

Once Adam and Eve sinned, they immediately had the knowledge of good and evil. Do you think God wanted to keep that from them because He didn’t want them to be an equal with Him? Satan’s goal was to be an “an equal with God”...and he got great pleasure from convincing Adam and Eve…and Progressive Liberal Secularists….and millions of others in the world to believe the same lie…that people can be their won gods! Foolishness!

God had given Adam and Eve every other tree in the Garden of Eden, including the one that gave them life eternal, but now they violated the boundaries that God set for them concerning the one tree – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Once they received that knowledge (which we all now have), God had to deliver on His promise that they would surely die. If He did not fulfill his words, they would have had eternal life – with the knowledge of evil in their hearts. God could not allow them to know and do evil, and still partake of the tree of eternal life, so he had to remove them from the Garden of Eden and from the tree of life.

God is a just God, so He must punish sin.

Let’s pick this up in Genesis 3:7 – “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

They never knew they were naked before because they lived right, and only knew Good, and only trusted and obeyed and served God. Once they disobeyed God, and ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they knew evil. They realized or knew they were naked….so they made covers for their nakedness, then went and hid from God. Why would they feel the need to now hide from God?

Satan told them not to believe God’s words…to believe his words instead, and this sin of disobedience to God, and listening to the lies of Satan caused the knowledge of evil to be paced into man’s heart.

To act upon evil, is to commit sin. Before this, there was no evil, therefore no possibility of committing sin against God. Now, they would have to confront God….as we all will someday, to “splain ourselves”.

In verse 8, we read, “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

^9-And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

Do you suppose God knew where they were? Of course He did, He is God….all-knowing. He simply wanted to confront them and give them another opportunity to “come clean” – to redeem themselves from committing this sin against Him.

Adam could have said, “Lord, I have sinned against you, please forgive me of my sin.”

Eve could have said, “Lord, please forgive me. I believed the serpent’s lies, and I should have never not trusted in your words.”

Instead, because they now KNEW evil, they would commit even more of it right in front of all-knowing God, their Creator.

¹⁰And Adam said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

One has to ask why Adam would become afraid? Fear is of the devil, not God. Who instilled FEAR? Satan instilled FEAR in man…and this fear game has not subsided since the Garden of Eden.

FEAR is Satan’s first line of attack. He causes FEAR to set in. He causes it to set in over finances, over your children, a spouse, a parent….a friend…your religion…a pastor, rabbi, priest….mullah……FEAR first and always.

¹¹And God said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Do you think God knew that Eve and Adam ate of that forbidden tree? Of course He did, but He wanted them to own up to their sin.

Instead, Adam chose to add insult to injury, and committed more sin. He blamed his wife and he blamed God! He said, if you can believe it, “The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.” The audacity! “God, it’s your fault because YOU gave me this woman in the first place….don’t blame me…if YOU didn’t give her to me, I would never have committed this sinful act of disobedience against you.”

Adam believed that God might not buy that argument, so just in case, he blurted out, “It was her fault…she gave me of the tree and I did eat….still not my fault, it’s either YOURS or HERS.”

God is patient, so He then gave Eve a chance to come clean about her sin.

She now also KNEW EVIL, and began to work it into her life by saying, “It isn’t MY fault… The serpent (that you made) beguiled me, and I did eat.”

So, both Adam and Eve said, “Don’t look at me…I’m innocent. Your creation (the wife) or (the serpent) tricked me into committing this sin.” Neither would confess their sin to God. So God now had no choice but to honor His own words to them, and curse mankind to taste physical death.

¹⁷And unto Adam God said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; ¹⁸Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; ¹⁹In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

930 years would pass, but Adam would be returned to the ground in death….as will all of us.

God still loved man, and made clothing from animal skins to cover up their nakedness. ²¹Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” ^{22 -}And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for eve.”

I want to draw your attention (Jew, Greek, Muslim, anyone) to the fact that God declares several places in the Holy Scriptures, regardless of whether it is the Torah, the Koran or the Old Testament, that He is made up of more than one part. God said, “The man is become as one of us.” Anyone reading that statement from God has to believe that he is telling us all that He is made up of more than one entity. One entity would mean that God is monotheistic….one God.

Instead, He declares that he is polytheistic….made up of more than one part. Should more help be required here, God declared, in Genesis 1:26 – “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Later, in Genesis 11:7, God came upon men who tried to build a tower to reach into heaven. Foolish man. So God had this to say: “Let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.”

So, it is clear , to me, that God is a triune God, and not monotheistic – by His own words. God did not say, “Let me make man in my image”..or “I will go down there and confound their language”.

Some believe He was speaking to the angels when He said, “Let us make man in our image”. Well, God created the angels, too, so why would He say, “Let’s create man in our image…the image of angels and in the image of God. Angels are created…and inferior to God Himself, so why would God make man in the image of God…and angels? He didn’t. He made man in the image of God….three parts. Body, soul and spirit.

Hebrews, Chapter two states, “⁹But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”

God is telling us that Jesus and man were made “A little lower than the angels”. This does not mean that Jesus was made lower than the angels, it means that Jesus would be born of a woman like men, and man, including the man, Jesus, would die.

Angels do not die. Jesus was also God, and declared Himself to be so, and the angels are all subject to Him. In verse 8 of Hebrews, we read, “⁸Thou (God) hast put all things in subjection under his feet.” This includes the created man and the created angels.

Back to the Garden of Eden. God also had to honor His words where He said He had to eject man from the Garden of Eden to prevent the now evil man from partaking of the tree of life.

Genesis 3:23 – “Therefore the LORD God sent him (man) forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. ²⁴So He drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”

After that, and man was ejected from the Garden of Eden, sin would abound throughout all the ages…until a final blood sacrifice for the sins of mankind would be made. That blood sacrifice would be the Lamb of God – His Son, Jesus.

Adam and Eve had two sons. Cain and Abel. Cain ended up committing the sin of murdering his brother Abel out of jealousy.

In fact, I have a list of things on my desktop computer screen that demonstrate the evils that man commits out of his sinful nature, and, on the right side of the list, the good spiritual things that God wants us to commit on a daily basis.

Here is that list:

This book will deal with that one issue of TRUST extensively, because TRUST and CONFIDENCE is what Satan wants you to lose in God.

Trust and confidence in God is what God wants us to develop. This is why God chose to send me to His “Boot Camp”. I lacked full trust and confidence in Him. I always thought I was in charge of my own destiny.

I also came to the point where I realized that I botched my life up. Sure, I was a deacon and Sundays school teacher….sure, I gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to the churches I attended, but that was me doing my will. Like Frank Sinatra….I did it my way. My way didn’t work. My way was unsuccessful at every turn. My way got in God’s way. I needed to let God have His way in my life. I was ready in December of 2007.

Chapter Three – MORE GAMES – Get Man To Lose Trust and Confidence in God.

To discover something about Satan, we have to know that he has access to God’s throne, and to His ear. Let’s visit the Book of Job because it will set the stage for how Satan bends God’s ear to accuse YOU and ME of our sins.

I was surprised to learn that Satan set out to have God test or run a “trial” using Job as a Guinea pig if you will.

Knowing that Satan can and does ask God if he can “sift us like wheat” is important information to have. It allows me bring you into my personal trial that, to me, was similar to Job’s test.

If you choose to ask God to draw you into a closer, more personal relationship with Him, you will also be tried and tested by God to see if you can measure up to the challenge. Failing the test will cost you dearly in that you will never be able to know what God’s divine plan is for your life – until you are tested by God.

You must REMEMBER THIS: This is the most important statement that I can make….”God has a plan and a purpose for your life. “

Anything short of your being involved in His plan means you are cheating yourself out of the blessing for you that He personally intended for your life.

Proverbs 19:21 – “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails.”

You and I go about life working OUR plan. But God’s plan and purpose for our lives will prevail. Why not let Him lead, instead of us trying to lead Him…as we tend to do?

In Proverbs 3: 5-7, we find this:⁵ “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; ^6-in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. “

So, a fundamental key for you and I to receive the blessing from God that He intended is to first TRUST in Him – 100% - “With all your heart”.

To gain trust in anyone, we must first test him or her to see if what they say is true. God’s word is true.

So, to trust anyone, we must commit to their ways, and honor their words if they are found to be trustworthy. When we commit, we begin to trust more. When we trust more, we begin to love that person more, and this cycle of trust, commitment, love continues recycling throughout our lives to make up what we would call – the perfect relationship. All God wants for you is to have a personal relationship with Him – regardless of your teachings – regardless of your “religion” if you will.

God has no “religion”. He is God. He has two categories of people: Those who will enter heaven, and those who will be condemned to an eternity in hell. As you continue reading, you will be able too determine into which group you fall.

Once we TRUST God, we then have to follow His lead. That is to say, “Don’t lean upon our own understanding of how we are to proceed in this relationship with God….follow His understanding and His leadership because He IS God.

He is the Creator or our brains - our understanding, and His intellect is far above ours. “His ways are far above our ways.”

Sometimes, we humans tend to think of God as a man not unlike ourselves - only smarter!

This is the wrong attitude to adopt. God planned out the entire universe…earth, solar system, and you. He left nothing to chance. The Progressives would have our children to understand in their training in public schools and colleges, that the planet just happened! There was no particular order in the establishment of the world, the planets, the sun…or man…everything just happened in a “big bang”! How ridiculous…yet this is taught by academia…”Academia is a collective term for the scientific and cultural community engaged in higher education” – Source – Urban Dictionary.

When man puts God into this category of being kind of like us only smarter, we challenge His authority to be our Supreme Ruler and Creator. We begin believing that we know what is best for ourselves…like Adam and Eve thought, under the new direction given to them from Satan himself.

If man is so smart, why do some of them teach evolution in the schools, which is a “religion”? Merriam Webster defines “religion” as “a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.”

I submit that the Progressives who want to remove God from our society are teaching THEIR “RELIGION” in our public school systems….and Congress has let them get away with it since Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black properly defined “separation of church and state” back in 1947. Details of that are found – and outlined in great detail in my book – America’s Two Holy Wars. You really ought to invest the $9.95 and buy it!

Chapter Four – GAME TOOL – A sieve. Satan Asks God to “Sift” us.

I was amazed to discover that Satan confronts God, and critiques those who serve God. I was equally amazed to find out that God has let Satan “sift” us to see exactly what our motives are for serving God.

For us to understand the premise of this chapter – that God allows us to be tested or “sifted” by Satan, we need to visit the Book of Job in the Bible.

Job suffered great trials and a time of testing. My first reaction to his story was, “Why would God…a loving, caring God, allow a man to be tortured the way Job was tortured? Job was a “righteous man”, according to God’s own standards. Job would end up losing his finances, family, property….health…everything. Why?

The answer became evident to me as I read through the Book of Job, ad as I started to live out a similar “time of testing”.

Job’s trials were for OUR BENEFIT, and the lessons learned from his time of testing would be learned 9and taught) thousands of years after Job went through a hellish experiment set forth by the wily one himself - Satan.

Job would go through the most horrific set of events that could ever happen to anyone on the planet. He went above and beyond those normal trials that we now go through, and those that God has promised us a way out of when they happen to us. Job’s testing period was far above that which man would normally be able to bear. That said, Job went through the trial to help you and I get through ours.

Job’s trial was part of God’s divine plan for his life, and was set up so that Job could teach us….to show us that God is supreme. God is our Creator. God provides our next breath, our next bite of food, and our next dollar.

Job realized this truth and this truth was recorded in the Book of Job. Job said, at the end of his trial, “The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away, but blessed be the name of the lord anyway.”

This is why you and I SHALL go through periods of testing….to get us into conformity with God’s divine plan and purpose for our life, and so that we can share those experiences with others….much as I am attempting to do in this book. Hopefully, we can also say those words of truth that Job uttered when our trial is over. There is a time when you will know your trial or time of testing is over. I will reveal when that time is a bit later in this book.

Writers and speakers should always remember Job’s trials, and we should teach the results of them to benefit others until the end of time. We should do this as a memorial to Job.

Let’s discover the beginnings of Job’s testing period.

Job 1:1 – “¹ In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. ² He had seven sons and three daughters, ³ and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.

So, we now see that Job had everything that one might ever want or need. He also feared God, was righteous (blameless) in God’s eyes, and God blessed him with material things and with a great family, and lots of friends.

SATAN STARTS THE GAME – WITH JOB - Whether your trial or mine – or Job’s, Satan is right there to accuse you before God.

One might ask, “If God tossed Satan out of heaven way back before the beginning of mankind, how then can Satan enter God’s presence?” If that question has not entered your mind, how about the theory that God cannot look upon evil, so how could He look at the epitome of evil himself – Satan?

Well, once you get to read and understand God’s Holy Book, the Bible, you will understand that the theory espoused by many, is false.

Solomon, the wisest man on the planet ever, and the one whom God endowed with all wisdom beyond what man can know, had this to say: “Proverbs 15:3 – “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”

Far be it from me to disavow anything that God’s anointed – King Solomon, has spoken in the confines of the Bible. God’s Word – the Bible, was written by men, but inspired or “God-breathed” into men chosen for this work. In the Old Testament, they were called prophets. In the New Testament, Jesus told His apostles what to write after He ascended into heaven. Those writings are what is known today as “The New Testament”.

One of the twelve hand-picked apostles of Jesus was Judas. Judas (as God’s plan provided for), betrayed Jesus. He then committed suicide. After his death, there were eleven apostles left. One day, they were eating with Jesus – after his resurrection. He spent 40 days with them before ascending into heaven.

Later, Peter would have men choose the “twelfth apostle”, but Jesus would choose His own “12^th apostle, and it would be the apostle Paul. Many don’t know that fact. Many believe that Jesus died, and on the third day rose from the grave. They also believe that he went immediately into heaven on that third day.

This is why the apostle Paul tells us to study God’s Word….to KNOW that what others, including the “clergy” tells us is true and straight.

In Mark Chapter 16, we discover in verses 14, this insight: “Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; He rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.”

Jesus would spend the next forty days with his eleven apostles before ascending into heaven. He wanted to instruct His apostles in all that He wanted them to do, and he said He would empower THEM with signs and wonders (showing others that they had His authority and power) to drive out demons, raise the dead, heal the sick, drink deadly poison and not die, etc., and He would teach them about what to write to finish out prophecy.

There would be no more Law or prophets after the time of John The Baptist – meaning that season in time….meaning after these apostles died, the fulfillment of prophecy and the Law would be completed. The New Testament would be written by them, and by the only other apostle to make number twelve again – a man who was appointed personally by Jesus Himself - Paul.

Many today believe that THEY have the same gifts and signs and wonders that Jesus gave to His twelve apostles ONLY. They do NOT possess those abilities to raise the dead, heal the sick, blind and lame…nor can they play with venomous snakes and live…although some claim they have done it. Never with credible witnesses, I might add.

I could do this all day, and go down a lot of biblical rabbit trails to continue to prove the Bible with the Bible, but I have to stop somewhere so as not to lose the story of Job. That said, I want to demonstrate what I mean.

Luke 16:16 reads, "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.”

Jesus said, The Law and the Prophets were until John (the Baptist). There would be no need for the Law of Moses any longer because the New Testament would prove that man could not obey the Laws of Moses, and therefore, a final blood sacrifice (himself) would be needed to provide a way of escape from the judgment of breaking those Laws or Commandments. “God must punish sin”.

The grace of God (salvation), through the shedding of His Son’s blood on the cross, would then be traded for man’s sins. Before Christ, animals had to be slaughtered, and their blood would atone or “cover over temporarily” for the sins of mankind. The entire Book of Hebrews, Chapter Nine, reflects all that, so I won’t spend the time to prove it here. Read it if you get the chance.

The righteousness of Jesus would be exchanged on the cross for your sins and mine, and if we choose to accept Him as Lord and Savior, and we believe that He is God’s Son, and that He died on the cross for our sins, we can accept His free gift of eternal life.

So, “Since that time (the season of John the Baptist) the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached.” This conforms with Luke’s words, “The kingdom of God IS being preached.” The kingdom of God was being preached….as “the gospel of Christ”.

While eating with his eleven apostles, Jesus gave them a command, and authorized them to be able to do all the things Christ did….raise the dead, etc. Mark 16:15 – “He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”

What is that GOOD NEWS? - “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

This is God’s grace that overruled the Laws of Moses. “Whosoever believes, and is baptized (with the Holy Spirit of God) shall be saved (from the punishment of hell – forever). It is the Law of Moses – The Ten Commandments, that condemns mankind to hell because man could never obey or “keep” those Laws. Jesus tells us, in the New Testament, that He did not come to condemn the law…He came to fulfill it.

When we trust Christ as Lord and Savior, the Law can no longer condemn us. We are without condemnation under the Law. Romans 8: 1-2 bears this out. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. ²For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

And Jesus gave the eleven apostles who sat with Him that day, and who also trusted His words to be true, the authority to do “signs and wonders” or things to prove they had His authority. “And these signs will accompany those (of you eleven) who believe: In my name they (those of you eleven who believe) will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; ¹⁸they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

Later, apostles like Peter, raised the dead – Tabitha, for one. Those who claim to be an “apostle” today lie. They cannot heal the sick nor raise the dead, and I dare them to drink deadly poison in front of me. Paul, the 12^th hand-picked apostle of Jesus (after Jesus ascended to heaven) was also one who raised the dead. Matthias, the man-picked 12^th apostle, was never heard of again!

Mark 16:19 – “After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. ²⁰Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.”

This allows the reader to believe there is a contradiction – as so many are prone to preach that the Bible is full of contradictions. They believe – and teach, that Jesus was immediately taken up to heaven after that meal with His apostles. Then, it would appear that He worked with them from heaven to confirm His word by their signs and wonders.

Luke, the physician, rendered this version of what happened: Luke 24:44-49 – Jesus said to them (the eleven apostles) "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

This is to say that everything written (Old Testament) by the Prophets, the Law of Moses, and David, the psalmist must be fulfilled….and that He was about to open their minds so they could understand the Scriptures, and He would reveal to them the “rest of the story” that they would write down after the Holy Ghost comes upon them.

In verse 45 of Luke 24, we read, “Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. ⁴⁶He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, ⁴⁷and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹I am going to send you what my Father has promised; (the Holy Spirit) but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

It is not until Paul (the only apostle appointed by Jesus Himself to make up the twelve who are key to the kingdom of heaven) penned these words that we get the entire story of how long Jesus was with the eleven spoken of by Matthew, Mark and Luke:

Acts 1:3 – “After his suffering, He showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.”

Jesus spent the forty days telling His apostles (and later Paul) of the kingdom of God. He revealed to them what to write down in the form of the New Testament. Once the New Testament was completed, there would be no more need for prophets…everything that was to come would be written down. This was accomplished by around 70 A.D. Coincidentally, the Holy Temple on Mount Zion was utterly destroyed on August 4, 70 A.D. Israel – the “chosen people” or “elect” would be scattered over the earth from then until now, and the Gospel of Christ would be given to the “Gentiles” (non-Jews) because the Jews rejected Christ and His claims to be the Son of God.

There will be loads of self-proclaimed apostles, but they are NOT apostles. Revelation 2:2 – “I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.”

Luke wrote, “⁴On one occasion, while Jesus was eating with them, He gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. ⁵For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

⁶So when they met together, (written of in Mark 16) they (the eleven apostles) asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"

⁷Jesus said to them, "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. ⁸But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." ⁹After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. So, as we have learned - Jesus spent 40 days with His apostles, then He was taken up into heaven.

THE TWELVE APOSTLES – How were they “chosen”

Jesus chose all twelve apostles Himself. He chose eleven plus Judas. Judas never made it into heaven. Then, after Jesus ascended into heaven, Peter..a man chose the twelfth. Here’s how it happened….

Peter, the really aggressive apostle, stood up in a meeting of about 120 disciples (disciples are followers of Christ…like you and me), but Peter decided to elect the twelfth apostle on his own. He did not pray about it. He did not ask Jesus for His advice. Does this sound like something we might do?

Acts 1:20 – “For, said Peter, it is written in the book of Psalms, May his place be deserted; (speaking of the one who would betray the Messiah) let there be no one to dwell in it, and, may another take his place of leadership.”

Peter wanted to fulfill the prophecy of the Psalms without waiting for God to fulfill this prophecy. His desire to get a twelfth apostle in place preempted Jesus from making the choice. Man, it seems, is always anxious to “help God” with God’s own plan. This is why we need to wait upon the Lord.

Peter said, in verse 21, “Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, ²²beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."

²³So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. ²⁴Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen ²⁵to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs." ²⁶Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.”

The apostle that man chose failed to ever be heard of again in the entire Bible. He did nothing. He accomplished nothing. He became nothing. Do you now see how things get messed up when we try to inject ourselves into God’s divine plan?

When Jesus appointed Paul (formerly Saul, the one who was beating and imprisoning (or killing) Jews, Paul became one of the greatest apostles and writers of the New Testament….why? Because he was anointed and appointed as the twelfth apostle by Jesus Himself.

Now, we can get back to Job and God’s divine plan!

Job 1: 6-7 – “One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan (who is also an angel created by God) also came with them. ⁷ The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." From this, we learn two things: Satan, as an angel, somehow still has the right to come before God, and that he is still connected to the earth…where God threw him down from heaven to a place in Pergamos, Turkey…now called Bergama, Turkey.

We can then take into context what Satan meant when he told God, “I was on the earth roaming around.”

God tells us in another part of the Bible that “Satan goes about the earth – as a roaring lion – seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8. Satan felt like leaving that part of his conversation with God out!

GOD SETS UP JOB FOR A TEST

God made mankind with something called “free-will”.

This means that God has decided, probably even before He made the angels, that angels and man will have the choice…serve Him….or not, but it shall be their choice.

God must (my speculation only) have willed Himself NOT to know the outcome of man’s choices to either serve Him or reject serving Him. I say this because He is God, and can, therefore, will Himself to do anything He pleases, including not wanting to know the choices that man will make concerning choosing Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The angels had free will, too.

Satan rebelled, and chose to be disobedient and disloyal to his Creator. Was this a surprise to God? I don’t think so because God is all-knowing. If, however, God is all –knowing, and knew in advance, that Satan would rebel against Him, why would He have chosen to create Satan (first called Lucifer), and about one-third of the rest of the angels? This is why I believe God has willed Himself to NOT know the results of what their free-will choices will be until they actually happen.

To further strengthen my theory and speculation, if God knew that you or I would choose to follow or reject Him, why would He have made us?

If, on the other hand, He chose NOT to know how you would choose, until you made that choice, then it would be the only plausible conclusion….the only one that would make total sense.

We can speak of “predestination” here. Some follow the concept that God does know who will and who will not serve Him….who will and who will not choose to believe that Jesus came to the earth for one purpose; to die for their sins. The actual verse in the Bible reads this way: “Romans 8:29 – “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

Out of that, many have come to believe that God predestined some to go to heaven by conforming to the image of His Son, Jesus….therefore, He must have predestined others not to accept His Son, and therefore be punished for eternity in a place of torment called hell.

Would that, therefore, not be a cruel God….who would create some humans to go to heaven, and others to be predestined for hell?

Many Bible scholars believe the same thing that I believe. They, too, have studied the Bible in context, and have come to the same conclusion – and that is that God predestined (meaning planned ahead, or planned in advance) that all men should be conformed to or made in the likeness of His Son, Jesus.

Better put, we find this in the another translation of the Bible called The Message – “God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity He restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.”

Later, in the New Testament, Jesus inspired these words to be penned by John “The Beloved” apostle of Jesus: John 3:15-18 – “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ¹⁸He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.’

God has destined ALL men and women, including YOU and me, to not be condemned for our sins by providing Jesus as the final blood sacrifice for all of our sins…so that we (mankind) will NOT be condemned under the Law.

Rather than having us condemned under the Law, God offered Himself to become our sin, and to grant us His righteousness when He planned, before the beginning of mankind, to use part of His Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) to come to earth for one purpose…the forgiveness of sin.

God wants all of us to be with Him in heaven…..but, it shall be our free-will choice to believe…..or not.

Failure to believe is the greatest or “unpardonable sin”, and that unpardonable sin is to reject what Jesus did for us on the cross, thereby choosing to trample His blood under our feet.

Finally, on the subject of “predestination”, we read this in 1 Timothy 2:4 – “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” This is the pre-planning (predestination) that God had for all of mankind whom He did know before the beginning of time.

SATAN “SIFTS” JOB

So, Satan, the devourer, went before God’s throne and condemned Job…..but, God initiated this meeting as part of His divine plan for humanity. Satan thought that he was getting one over on God. Satan now realizes that he had no control over anything -it was God’s divine plan for Job to suffer for awhile so that generations after this lesson would remember Job’s testing period, and we would all learn from it.

Like the flood, when God revealed to Noah that He would put a rainbow in the sky after a rainstorm to honor His promise that the earth shall never be destroyed by flood again. After Job’s trial, God promises not to subject us to the horrific experiences of Job. He will not allow us to be tested above the point where we cannot take it anymore.

GOD TELLS SATAN TO CONSIDER JOB

First, you must understand that Satan doesn’t
”just appear” before God to chat. His devious mind always has a scheme. God knew why Satan was there alright!

So, when Satan arrived after roaming the earth and seeking whom he might devour, God said, Job 1:8 - Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job?”

Because God is all-knowing and all-seeing, it did not catch Him off-guard when Satan arrived. God already knew (in my humble opinion), that Satan had fixated on Job already, and God already knew the questions that Satan was about to pose.

God told Satan, “There is no one on earth like Job; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

I also believe that God and Job had what God wants from us also….a very close-knit, trusting, loving, and caring relationship. I further believe that God trusted Job’s integrity toward Him, and if put to a test by Satan, Job would demonstrate his devotion, love and trust in his Creator, God.

So, God was about to send Job a trial or test, but only FOR OUR BENEFIT and those who lived after Job’s trial. It was also a message to us that Satan will come before God to condemn us and tell God that we are failures.

How will we react when Satan decides to test us or “sift us like wheat” as Jesus said of Peter in Luke 22:31 and 32 – “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: ³²But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”

We can learn three things from this and from Job’s story, and they are: (1) Satan wants to sift us, too. This means he wants to condemn us before God, and then be allowed to test our mettle. Will we be faithful to God if he takes “stuff” from us, including our health, finances, homes, food, family?

(2) Jesus is our mediator between us and God. He intercedes on our behalf to pray that we will not fail God throughout our test.

Finally (3), what we learn as a result of our testing period, we need to teach others. We need to pass on to others the stories of our failures during the test. We need to tell others of our feelings and thoughts during the trial, and we need to share the outcome of the trial with others.

If, for example, as part of His training program, God allows your money, your home, your children or other loved ones, or your health to be taken from you, will you abandon Him?

Or, will you know that the trial is from God, and it is part of number (3) above….to pass on what you have learned to others who are going through health problems?

We will soon see that Job had absolutely everything listed above taken away from him, including his health, and we will learn the lessons that his story brings to us - some several thousand years later.

But, concerning health, I must give an example here.

No last name necessary…only “Joni”. This should prove to us how famous this lady has become, and all because her incident was part of her Creator’s divine plan. God prepared her so she could tell us – and millions of others, her testimony. Her testimony has won countless souls into the kingdom of heaven, and this is all part of God’s divine will.

Joni also knows that when she gets to heaven. she will not be a quadriplegic, but will have a body that will never see illness again. She shall run and jump and do whatever she feels like doing in heaven, and I cannot wait to see her and talk with her. I have forever to do it!

Satan confronted God and had this to say: "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

See, Satan does seek whom he may devour….whether Job - or YOU. He truly believed that Job would curse God if God took away his “stuff”, and he suggested to God that the only reason Job was loyal, honest, and upright to God was because God gave him “stuff”.

How foolish is the deceiver, Satan! He really thinks that God is not aware of everything, including what he is up to. He was apparently unaware that God trusted his servant Job to the point where He would allow Satan to do anything to Job – short of killing him.

This should demonstrate to you that Satan cannot take your life. In fact, he can do NOTHING to you unless it is allowed by God. You have angel(s) guarding you day and night against attacks of Satan if you have trusted Christ as your Savior and Lord. How do I know this?

I know it because I have read Hebrews 13:1-2 – “Keep on loving each other as brothers. ²Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”

And, in the New Testament, the apostle Peter was rescued from jail by angels…..Acts 12: 6-10 – “The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. ⁷Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.

⁸Then the angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals." And Peter did so. "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me," the angel told him. ⁹Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. ¹⁰They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.”

I could go on and give dozens of illustrations demonstrating that we are surrounded by angels who protect us from Satan, but I will wrap it up with another verse from the Bible that illustrates who it is we fight against.

Our battle on earth is not with flesh and blood. If we could “see”, spiritually speaking, around us, it might scare us to death.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” – Ephesians 6:12.

Our enemy goes about as a roaring lion – seeking whom he (and his demons) may devour meaning whom they may seek to depress, possess, oppress – even kill or maim, but they can do none of the above to those who have trusted Christ as their Savior. God’s gift (one of them) to mankind who have chosen to believe, is the gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells within them. Satan can oppress the “saved”, but cannot possess them.

We shudder to think of a single loss to us….like our job, which could mean our home…or a family member, or a failed marriage….perhaps the loss of health. Job lost all of the above, so let’s see how Satan gleefully did all but kill him.

I want to report to you that Satan gleefully attempts to distract us, or he tries to separate us from God in other ways. He will use enticements to separate us from God, and if all of that fails, he will turn up the heat and attack us by taking things away from us to cause stress in our lives. When we are stressed, our minds are not on God, but on the things that produces the stress.

Satan’s GAME is to separate you from doing God’s will and keep you from knowing God’s purpose and plan for your life.

Satan’s desire is to get you to walk away from God. He wants to prevent you from experiencing a close fellowship with God, and he wants to prevent you from knowing what God’s plan and purpose for your life is.

What is God’s will for our lives?

Jesus declared, in John 6: 38-40 –“For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. ³⁹And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.”

Now, in the very next verse, we discover what God’s will for us is: ⁴⁰-”For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

God’s will for our lives is to use every resource, including time, talents and treasure, to point man to Jesus for their eternal salvation. It’s that simple. If we do everything with that goal in mind, then we are in God’s will, doing God’s plan, and fulfilling God’s purpose for us while we are on the planet.

If you put “stuff” before that objective, you are disobeying God’s first of the Ten Commandments, and the two commandments of Jesus. “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”, and “Love the Lord, the God with all your heart, soul and mind.”

“If you love me…..keep my commandments”, said Jesus in John 14:15.

Jesus only had two commandments – found in Mark 12: 30 and 31: “AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.' ³¹"The second is this, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” There is no other commandment greater than these.”

I have learned, the hard way, that all I have comes from God - my next breath, my next bit of food - my next dollar, and should God decide to bless me (or you), He expects us to use those resources, including our breath of life given us daily, to work toward His objective of saving men’s souls.

Job said, “The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away.” Keep that in mind. What God gives you, he can take away if it is misused.

JOB’S TRIAL

Satan asked God to allow him to “sift” Job like wheat….and in doing so, Satan figured Job would simply curse God and die.

Job 1:12 – “The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.”

God trusted His servant, Job, but Job’s testing period would be like none ever seen before – or after. Once Satan left God’s throne, and only with God’s permission to do whatever he wanted to Job, short of killing him, he set out to take everything that Job had away from him.

Satan had to have had the biggest smirk of glee on his face since he convinced Eve, then Adam to sin.

I will shorten the painful explanation of all the harm that Satan began to inflict upon Job, but I want to simply list them in chronological order for you. In each and every situation, Satan left one person alive so they could knock on Job’s door and personally deliver the very devastating news to him. Satan delights in bringing misery and destruction into your life and mine. This is who he is!

Here is what each messenger said to Job:

¹³And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: ^14-And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them: ¹⁵And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.”

Satan wasted no time trying to destroy Job and all he had. Satan takes great pleasure in destruction…especially in the destruction of God’s family of believers’ psyche. If he can get us depressed or oppressed, he thinks he has a chance to get us to blame God, or lose our confidence and trust in God.

¹⁶While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

¹⁷While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

¹⁸-While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: ¹⁹And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

So, Satan, within a short time, wiped out all of Job’s wealth and then his family. But, he’s not done yet!

Job fell down to the ground, shaved his head, removed his clothing, and worshipped God saying, in verses 21 and 22 of the Book of Job, “Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
